Lifting the Voices of Black and Brown Girls and Women
FOR GIRLS ONLY
Change is Reel Film Labs will open doors in the film industry for Black and Brown girls in Metro Detroit by putting cameras in their hands to provide a lens for them to see the beauty in themselves and their community. Our film/media/leadership program is for girls of color between 13 and 18 years old who live in Metro Detroit. We provide a joyful and healing space for our participants to stay connected, learn about resources, and gain tools to thrive during this powerful moment in history. Spaces are limited.

Change is Reel utilizes multimedia as a tool for Black and Brown girls to tell their own stories and shift the narratives that impact their lives. This year we are focusing on The CROWN Act and End the Pushout Act to motivate our girls to have agency over their lives by actively working towards solutions. We aim to educate our community and garner support.

We put cameras in the hands of Black and Brown girls to tell their own stories. The girls work as team to learn all aspects behind the camera.

PASS THE 'END THE PUSHOUT ACT'
Change is Reel hosts conversations about the adultification and discrimination against Black girls in schools. We advocate for the end of the school to prison pipeline.We provide a safe space for girls to examine and challenge issues that impact their lives.
Community Engagement
FILM SCREENINGS
We will continue to host the Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival, community film screenings, and film/media workshops in Metro Detroit featuring films by or about Black, Brown, and Indigenous girls and women.
